The abbey of Santa Maria of Corazzo – Calabria,

whose ruins still present and visible on the emerald green of the upper valley of the river Corace testify to a past of prestige “Concordia of the new and old Testamentand culture, as well as of religiosity, was founded by the Benedictine monks during the XI century.

The abbey is linked to the name of one of the greatest medieval mystics, Gioacchino da Fiore, who was abbot here from 1177 until 1187.

The structure of the abbey still preserves a clear architectural and functional layout.
