The Golubac Fortress is a fortified medieval town on the right bank of the Danube, 4 km from present-day Golubac, Serbia. The fortress was built in the fourteenth century and watched the approach of the Iron Gates, where the Danube rushes between the Carpathians (left bank, north) and the Balkans (right bank, south). It is inscribed on the list of cultural monuments of outstanding importance of the Republic of Serbia.
